The Presidential Awards 2018 – Public nominations for Presidential Men & Women
Posted:August 29, 2018
To celebrate the Centenary year of Nelson Mandela's birth, Presidential committed to awarding up to 100 recipients for the display of Presidential Character. The general public were encouraged to submit their nominations to acknowledge Men & Women who display Compassion, Bravery, Endurance, and Leadership. The categories for the award were inspired by some of the traits exhibited by Mr Mandela over his lifetime.
“There is a growing need to acknowledge the efforts and characteristics of citizens who are demonstrating Presidential characteristics in their everyday lives,” says Desré Buirski, Founder of Presidential Shirt.
A selection process took place and Presidential revealed the first 50 award recipients over the month of July, just in time for Mandela Day on the 18th. Nominations remain open for a second round of award recipients to be awarded by the end of the year. Award holders received a Presidential Shirt, Award Certificate and an invite to an exclusive Presidential Event.
The response was overwhelmingly positive and put a spotlight on the number of ordinary people who are working tirelessly to better the situation of others. We know our award recipients can be a source of inspiration for many, in South Africa and beyond.
Some previous Presidential Award Winners include philanthropist Vincent Ntunja, Olympic Gold medallist Caster Semenya, local entrepreneur Emmanuel Bonoko and stylist Lulo Rubushe.
